Blasnost hat eine Schwäche für zoologisch inspirierte Titel, frei nach dem Motto: keine Ohrwürmer für Angsthasen!
Das Zürcher Bläserensemble spielt vor allem Eigenkompositionen - ein schräger Mix aus Jazz, Improvisation und Banda-Musik, der auch vor schwülstigen Tangos und kettenrasselndem Knastblues nicht halt macht. Blasnost hat ein Herz für bedrohte Instrumente wie Naturhorn und Basssaxophon, setzt aber auch auf handelsüblichere Klangerzeuger: Basssaxophon, Bassklarinette und Tuba legen das rhythmische Fundament; Trompete, Altsaxofon, Baritonsaxofon, Flöte, Posaune und Naturhorn werden melodisch tätig - und manchmal werden die Rollen einfach vertauscht
