In 1824, Beethoven's 9th Symphony was premiered in the Kärntnertortheater. While the piece has become a key work of symphonic music and a symbol of European unity, the Viennese cultural venue no longer exists. The film searches for the historical plans and shows the stage in digital 3D reconstructions. The adventurous process of creating Beethoven's work, which forms the musical framework of the documentary, is also described.
