Ding Junhui ist der letzte chinesische Spieler, der das Shanghai Masters gewinnen konnte. Er siegte im Finale 2016 gegen Mark Selby. Seit 2017 wurde das Turnier nur von Engländern gewonnen. Von 2017 bis 2019 und 2023 gewann Ronnie O'Sullivan, 2024 Judd Trump und im Vorjahr Kyren Wilson. In den Jahren 2020-2022 fand das Turnier nicht statt.
