Astoria, benannt nach dem deutschamerikanischen Pelzhändler Johann Jakob Astor, ist eine Welt für sich. Besonders deutlich merkt man das am Speiseangebot: Immigranten bieten an jeder Ecke im Viertel des Stadtbezirks Queens aus bunt bemalten Wagen Essen nach Art ihrer Heimat an. Durchgesetzt haben sich vor allem Foodtrucks für arabische Speisen, griechische Souvlaki und mexikanische Tacos.
