A bullfighting fan killed by a bull and an asthmatic with a heart condition who suffered a heart attack during a cycling race do not initially suggest any crimes. However, the fact that farmer Trevor Nyman witnessed both incidents makes chief investigator Mike Shepherd suspicious. The deceased belonged to the Nyman clan, which is plagued by a conspicuous series of accidents and deaths. Shepherd intends to prevent further bereavements among the Nymans.
