Kunst im Foyer, Bronschhofen

Suzanne Waldvogel felt drawn to portraiture. She painted numerous personalities and also regularly portrayed politicians.

From March 21, the city of Wil will be presenting a retrospective of the late artist Suzanne Waldvogel in the foyer of the municipal administration building in Bronschhofen. Suzanne Waldvogel (1926 - 2022) grew up in Bern and attended the Ecole des Beaux Arts and the Académie Saint Julien in Paris and the Woolwich College of Arts in London. She later lived in Basel and the Zurich area. She only came to Wil in her later years. In 2007, she was awarded the Recognition Prize by the city of Wil.

Suzanne Waldvogel felt drawn to portraiture. She painted numerous personalities, and she also regularly portrayed politicians. One of her paintings, which shows Federal Councilor Karin Keller-Sutter, hangs in the St. Gallen government building. Waldvogel painted mainly with oil, but also left behind numerous watercolors and a large collection of drawings. Wherever she was, she pulled out a pencil and pad to record what she saw. She regularly sketched during the council meeting of the Wil city parliament. Carnival in all its variations was one of her favorite subjects, as this oil painting shows.

Public vernissage

The city of Wil is presenting the works of Suzanne Waldvogel from March 21 to June 20, 2024 in the foyer of the municipal administration building in Bronschhofen. The exhibition is open to the public during the opening hours of the administration building. On March 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the city of Wil invites you to the public vernissage.

The foyer is made available to artists as an exhibition platform. The city of Wil thus offers a wide range of insights into regional art.
