Seit 1946 findet im Badeort Cannes an der Côte d'Azur eines der größten Filmfestivals der Welt statt. Mit Auszeichnungen von der "Goldenen Palme" bis zur "Ehrenpalme" werden Kulturschaffende geehrt. Eine Jury hat auch 2024 gemeinsam mit ihrer Präsidentin, der US-Regisseurin Greta Gerwig, ihre Wahl getroffen. Der rote Teppich für die Stars wird im Palais des Festivals et des Congrès ausgerollt.
