The exhibition "Of Size and Grace - Maillol and Sintenis" from the Oskar Reinhart Collection "Am Römerholz" compares sculptures, prints and drawings by two influential artists from the beginning of the 20th century.
The monumental female nude figure "La Méditerranée" (1905-1907) made of limestone by Aristide Maillol (1861-1944) is a masterpiece from the "Am Römerholz" collection. Complemented by high-caliber international loans, the development and impact of the sculpture is shown.
Renée Sintenis (1888-1965), a Berliner who was highly valued by Maillol, designed small-format and playful animal figures that were highly acclaimed in the 1920s and into the post-war period.
The works of the two artists are compared for the first time in this exhibition to examine their similarities and differences.
A catalogue will be published in German and French to accompany the exhibition.
